Our Amber is not a resin, never been treated artificially to look pretty and sparkly and sun-kissed. There's a very high scammy quotient among products being specifically sold as "healing" amber. Basically, if you decide to buy a cheap one just to see if it works at all, you're probably still getting ripped off with stones that don't really contain much of the magic succinic acid (natural analgesic) in the first place. 02. Buoyancy test: Amber will float in seawater. This is why it washes up on the beaches of the Baltic after a storm. Salt-saturated water (2.5 tablespoons per 1 cup water) will show that imitations of amber will sink in salt water.
03. Static test: Amber is warm to the touch and when rubbed, it will become electrostatically charged and will attract lint particles.
